Will Bayley Net Worth: How Rich is the Table Tennis Player Actually?
William John Bayley is a professional British Paralympic table tennis player who is currently the official best in the world at the sport. He is the winner of the gold medal during the 2016 Summer Paralympics Games having previously also won during the 2014 World Championship. As of 2019, Will Bayley net worth is estimated to be £500,000.
Bayley was born on 17 January 1988, in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England. Bayley had some extra struggles than the normal baby growing up as he was diagnosed with arthrogryposis when he was born causing his four limbs to be highly affected.
But, the pain would sadly increase even more when Bayley was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 7. This was devastating for his family but thankfully he was able to recover from it successfully. It was in the process of recovery that his caring grandmother would provide him his first table.
After this was available to him, he regularly started to play tennis and the sport just clicked with him as he got better and better by the day. When he was 12, he would then join the Byng Hall Table Tennis Club where he represented Kent’s able-bodied men’s team.
His training would continue at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield from the age of 17 onwards. Bayley would eventually turn pro and one of his early appearances on the grand stage was when he represented Great Britain at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, China. But, his performance was not up to the mark as he would get knocked out in the preliminary round.
Yet, the very next year, he had significant improvements as he would win gold medals at the Czech and German Opens. This would continue in 2010 with a win in Brazil as well.
This started a virtous cycle in his career as he started to dominate the game with wins in the European Championships as well. In 2017, he would be appointed as Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to table tennis.
