3. Their debut track “Fuck Dat Nigga” was a big hit

They had signed with Quality Control Music and initially released the song called “Fuck Dat Nigga”. This was a diss track that they had created with many relevant points in their own life. They firstly promoted it themselves through social media and even recall paying DJs an amount to play the song in clubs.

The song started to do very well. Yet, only a week or so into the song doing well, JT was arrested on charges of aggravated identity theft and would disrupt their momentum towards it.

4. Their debut studio album was Period

Soon, though they had their own set of problems, they released their debut studio album titled Period. It would reach No. 16 in that same month on the Heatseekers Albums. They also got mentioned by Rolling Stone that same year.

Just a couple of months later, City Girls worked on their second album that was titled as Girl Code and would even feature artists like Cardi B and Jacques. Prior to that, they had released a documentary called Point Blank Period.

5. Among Drake’s songs in his album, “In My Feelings” which City Girls were associated was the standout

City Girls had a role to play in Drake’s song called “In My Feelings”. In the album Scorpion which had 25 songs, this was the most hit one and would play a huge role for the duo. Eventually, it even had a viral dance challenge being played and eventually hit the no. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
