Early Life

Eugenio’s mother was a renowned publicist and actress. He was born in 1961 in Mexico City. Derbez developed an early interest in acting as he landed his first role in Mexican soap operas at the age of 12. He kept the acting career going during his schooling years and by the time he was 19 he was studying acting at Televisa acting school. He later graduated as a film director from MICT.

He was a regular member of several Mexican TV shows during the 1980s and 90s. He became a household name in Mexico after producing his comedy TV series called “Al Derecho y al Derbez”. Other sitcoms followed and some of them were the longest-running sitcoms even in the U.S.
