Early Life

Jessica was born to Colleen Joanne Eye and Randy Allen in Akron, Ohio. She joined the family along with her eldest half-sister called Jennifer Carlisle-Brunner and other half-sister called Heather Carlisle-Hunter. She also has a brother by the name of Randy Miles Eye. Unfortunately, Jessica’s parents had to endure a painful, bitter, and violent divorce that resulted in the separation of the family when Jessica was six years old.

Career

Jessica Eye is a bantamweight fighter who is employed by the UFC at the moment. She trains herself with the Strong Style Fight Team in Cleveland. She started her fighting career for NAAFS, where she was both amateur and professionals champion in the flyweight division. In the Ring of Combat, she was the 130 pounds division champion. She has won some notable victories against Carina Damm and Zoila Frausto. Out of her 11 wins as a professional, four have been finished before the last round, and three have been TKOs.

Jessica is an athlete for life. She was hit by a drunken driver when she was 16 and had to spend three months in a hospital as a result. She says this accident motivated her with the drive to succeed at what she does. A few years down the line, she began to take lessons in martial arts and learned about MMA soon after. Jessica made her debut on the amateur circuit in the middle of 2008 and immediately notched up a 3rd round TKO victory. In her second match against Barb Honchak as an amateur, she edged out the opponent to win a closely contested split decision. This fight was not without controversy. During the second round of the fight, Jessica enforced a guillotine choke. She was attempting to end the match with her opponent submitting. The umpire stepped in briefly to ensure that Honchak didn’t tap. Although the umpire started the fight almost immediately, everyone, including Jessica, felt that the damage was done.

After she had built a 5-0 record as an amateur, she decided to make her maiden professional debut. This happened in 2010 when she won the fight in the 2nd round with a TKO. She was quick to register three straight wins along with the 130 pounds ROC. This was enough for earning a shot at the Flyweight title for the NAAFS. She was to face Aisling Daly from Ireland in the fight. This fight was to be the first real setback for Jessica as she went down in the second round with a submission to the highly-rated Irish fighter.

After that loss against Daly, Jessica Eye signed up for the BFC or Bellator Fighting Championship. She went on to build a 5-0 record with two wins for the BFC and three prior with the NAAFS. This was before she agreed to fight against a well-known opponent in Zoila Frausto at the event Bellator 83. There was a lot of trash talk and bad blood before the match. Zoila accused Jessica of being an MMA groupie who turned into a fighter. This fight took place in 2012, with both contestants running to the octagon center. When the fight started, they threw wildly at each other, showing the bad feelings towards each other. This took precedence over the technical aspects of a martial arts fight. Jessica held Frausto against the cage and sunk her with a standing arm-triangle choking maneuver. But, to the misfortune of Jessica, before the referee could recognize this, Frausto was out. Jessica again had her almost unconscious against the cage. Jessica yelled at the umpire, and the fight was terminated in less than a minute. After this victory, Jessica was to go to the NAAFS once more for a contest against Carina Damm. She won the match with a unanimous decision.

During the year 2013, Eye was signed up to UFC. She made her professional debut against a top contestant Sarah Kaufman at the event UFC 166. It was a closely fought match, and Jessica Eye got the nod from the judges in an extremely close and even controversial split decision. However, the fight was eventually overturned to a No Contest result after Jessica failed a drug test owing to Marijuana consumption. She later admitted to taking the smoke from her father, who used marijuana for his brain cancer treatment. She took on Alexis Davis next at the UFC 170. However, she ended up losing the fight in another split decision. Next, she got a highly rated win against Leslie Smith at the UFC 180. This was a TKO win where Smith also suffered a partial detachment of her ear as a result of the Eye strikes. The last two matches she has taken part in have both ended up as unanimous decision defeats against Julianna Pena and Miesha Tate.

Jessica Eye was one of the big winners at the UFC 231 Undercard. She was 32 years old, and she finally managed to put the horrifying run of four consecutive losses from 2015 and 2016 behind her. She looked completely relaxed in the flyweight division. However, there was a see-saw battle against Katlyn Chookagian on the weekend, which saw the two fighters going hard at each other. But a hard-earned win for Jessica may get her a shot at the title. After the fight, she was confident about what she wanted, and that was a shot at the flyweight title.

Fighting Style

Jessica has a terrific takedown defense, good hands, and there is something special about her. She is a fighter to the core. In an interview in 2015, the UFC president Dana White said that Eye is one of the fighters you talk about. She is a pure fighter, and when it is time to fight, she is one tough nut to crack, and she loves fighting. She is recognized as an agile striker, but what is unique about her is her hand speed. Couple that with the variety she has makes a formidable opponent. During her fights, she many times uses quick jabs, body shots, looping hoops, and combinations. Against one of her opponents Leslie Smith at UFC 180, Jessica landed 32 strikes within the space of an initial couple of minutes.

Jessica Eye and Pop Culture

Jessica was considered for the cover page of the magazine Cosmopolitan in the year 2015, which published a special feature edition about female athletes. Eye modeled for the article and, in the publication, discussed how her upbringing resulted in her becoming a prizefighter. The fitness and health editor of the magazine called Elizabeth Narins regarded Jessica as a strong and amazing person. There is a reference to Jessica Eye in the re-mix version of the popular song “Till I die” sung by Machine Gun Kelly. In March of 2016, Jessica also featured in the “Pressure Life” magazine, which is located in Cleveland.
