Alex Scott is a former English footballer who is best known for her three stints at Arsenal as a right back. Moreover, she is the second most capped player in the history of the Women’s English national team with a total of 140 appearances for them. Scott was born on 14 October 1984, in Poplar, East London. She has a mix of Irish and Jamaican descent in her. When she was only eight years of age, Arsenal had officially signed her. Ever since then, she was juggling school along with rigorous training sessions with the coaches finding the full-back position to be the best fit for her.
Her first stint with Arsenal lasted till 2005 after which, she shortly played for Birmingham City. In her second stint with Arsenal, it would be the most successful one as she played an important part in them winning the domestic double of the FA Women’s Premier League and FA Women’s Cup.
But, the highlight would be them winning the “Quadruple” which also included in them winning the 2006–07 UEFA Women’s Cup with Scott scoring the winning goal memorably in the final. From the season 2014–15 season onwards, she would lead the team as the captain.
Scott then retired on 2 September 2017 from her international duties. Back in 2011, Scott would open the ‘The Alex Scott Academy’ in synergy with Kingston College and Puma for female footballers aged 16–19 years.
After her career, with more free time than ever, Scott would transcend to a career in broadcasting having had some snippets of it even during the time when her football career was in a flow.
She became best known for being one of the pundits during the 2018 FIFA World Cup and would also be a co-presenter at the popular show called Match of the Day. Aside from football, she has also been involved in a show called Mission Survive where she was a winner and recently became a part of Strictly Come Dancing.
