2. He was a drug dealer as a teenager

Tyla Yaweh was born on May 31, 1995, in Altamonte Springs, Florida, with the name Tyler Jamal Brown. Tyler used to live with his mother and he was at the time, working at a nominal job at the local Dunkin’ Donuts. However, it was later discovered by his mother that Tyler was actually holding this job in order to cover up for how he was earning money. It was actually by dealing with drugs in his hometown. This discovery led to his mother kicking him out of home and Tyler was forced to get out. This is when he moved to Los Angeles to chase the dream of being a rapper.

3. He hit the stage for the first time when he was only 14.

He started off in his hometown of Florida where he used to perform in local shows. Some of the collaborations that he did on stage included with names like Pouya and Denzel Curry.

Growing up, Yaweh was hugely influenced by the styles of Lil Wayne and Young Thug. In an interview, he also mentioned that when he was growing up, he listened to many rock bands too, including Sex Pistols, Green Day, and The Ramones.

4. His breakout single was “Drugs and Pain”

2017 was a very important year for Yaweh’s career as that was the year that “Drugs and Pain” was released. He had just completed a performance at Rolling Loud at this time and this was the next step. The single became a big hit with millions of hits on Spotify. That would result in the development of a great fan following. In the year that followed, he had even more success with the singles “Wildlife”, “Gemini” and “Goals”.

5. He is signed to London Entertainment.

Yaweh had great energy on stage which was noted by Post Malone and Dre London. This would result in him being signed to their label called London Entertainment. Most recently in 2019, he toured alongside Post Malone in Europe where they had performances of the album “Heart Full of Rage”
