Jarrett Culver is an American college basketball player for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Here are five facts about Jarrett Culver including his career, net worth and more.

1. Early Life

Culver was born on February 20, 1999, in Lubbock. In his childhood, he used to play a lot of football and soccer. But while he started middle school, he also started to play a lot of basketball both in real life as well as through NBA 2K. He studied at Coronado High School in his hometown. There, he played under head coach Randy Dean and made significant progress being named as Lone Star Varsity Player of the Year by Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.

As a senior, he just got better like wine would with time. He started to have an average of 30 points per game and led his team in rebounds and assists.

2. Jarrett Culver Career

Culver was rated as a three-star recruit and would commit to Texas Tech in mid-September. He would make his debut in 2017 with a win over South Alabama. He had a good start as a freshman having been named as the Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Week. He also broke an important record that year by scoring 229 points in conference play, breaking the Big 12 freshman record set by Martin Zeno in 2005. Overall, Culver ended up averaging 11.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game.

He carried on the momentum building up to his sophomore year as well. That year saw some big names in the team like Zhaire Smith and Keenan Evans leaving which as a result made him a crucial player taking a position of leadership. He also played against Nebraska where he would be announced as the most valuable player(MVP) honors at the Hall of Fame Classic. He would go on to score 31 points against Iowa State making it a career-high.

He eventually was named as the Big 12 Player of the Year at the end of conference play. He had impressive individual performances but there were instances where the team a whole couldn’t perform to the level that they could have. In the second half of the season, Culver couldn’t keep up his momentum. Maybe, the loss of momentum of his team was affecting his own performance as well. In the Final Four Game against Michigan, he struggled a bit and so did in their match against Virginia in the championship game. After finishing the season, Culver made the decision that it was the right time for him to declare for the 2019 NBA draft.
