Edward Byrnes Breitenberger known to many as Edd Byrnes was an American actor. He was best known for his role in the television series 77 Sunset Strip. Edd Byrnes net worth before his death is estimated to be $2 million.

Byrnes was born on July 30, 1932, in New York City to Mary and Augustus “Gus” Breitenberger. His father died when he was 13 years old. Byrnes had an interest in acting but didn’t take it seriously until after he had tried a number of different jobs, such as driving an ambulance, roofing, and selling flowers.

Byrnes first job (non-paid) came in 1956 in a summer stock theatre company in Connecticut, the Litchfield Community Playhouse. He then began appearing in their plays as an actor. The same year, he was cast in an episode of the TV program “Crossroads”. He also appeared in the “Wire Service” and “Navy Log” episodes of Crossroads.

After a year in Hollywood, Edd appeared in an episode of The Adventures of Jim Bowie, and Telephone Time and the film Fear Strikes Out. In 1958, Warner Bros. gave him a contract by assigning him to a comic role in The Deep Six. The same year, he also appeared in an episode of Cheyenne, The Gale Storm Show and Cot 45.

Byrnes came into the limelight by playing the role of Kookie in hit TV series “77 Sunset Strip”. His character became an immediate national teen sensation, prompting the producers to make Byrnes a regular cast member of the TV series. In 1960, he had a fallout with Warner Bros and was forced to turn down film roles in Ocean’s Eleven, Rio Bravo, North to Alaska, and The Longest Day.

After a fallout with Warner Bros. he appeared on several movies and TV series like The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, Burke’s Law and Kraft Suspense Theatre, Renegade Riders, Any Gun Can Play, Mankillers, Back to the Beach, Party Line, Troop Beverly Hills and many more. His final role came in 1999 in Shake, Rattle and Roll: An American Love Story.

Regarding his personal life, he was married to Asa Maynor. They got married in 1962 and have a son named Logan Byrnes. Logan works for KYSI-TV news in California.

On January 8, 2020, Byrnes died of natural causes at his Santa Monica home.
