He went to Westminster Catawba Christian School followed by Northwestern High School where he started playing football. After school, he played his college football for Oklahoma State University. He entered his true freshman season in 2014 as a third-string player. His first career game came against Baylor where he completed 13 of 25 passes for 281 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. Rudolph won the 2017 Johnny Unitas Goldn Arm Award, given annually to the country’s outstanding senior college quarterback.

Recently, in a match against Cleveland Browns, Rudolph was involved in a brawl in which Myles Garrett removed his helmet and struck him in the head with it after Rudolph grabbed at Garrett’s helmet and kicked Garrett in the groin. Garrett and two other players were ejected and were suspended. He finished that match with 221 passing yards, a touchdown, and four interceptions in 7-21 loss.
