Andres Ponce Ruiz Jr. shortly known as Andy Ruiz or “The Destroyer” is a Mexican-American boxer. As of 2019, Andy Ruiz Jr net worth is estimated to be around $1.5 million.

Ruiz was born on September 11, 1989, in Imperial Valley, California. During his amateur career, he boasted his record 105-5 and went on to win two Mexican National Junior Olympics gold medal as well as the World Ringside Heavyweight Championship. He got the chance to represent Mexico at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games but didn’t make it after he lost the fight on the qualification round.

Andy Ruiz made his professional debut at the age of 19 against Miguel Ramirez. He won the fight via a first-round KO. After three months, he fought his second match against Ross Brantley where he knocked Brantley three times in round 1 winning the bout via TKO. He then won his next fight against Juan Luis Lopez Alcaraz in a 4-round unanimous decision.

Ruiz moved up the ranks winning fights against boxers like Luke Vaughn, Miles Kelly, Raymond Lopez, Francisco Diaz, Kelsey Arnold, Alvaro Morales, Angel Herrera, Villi Bloomfield, Ken Frank, Theron Johnson, Jonte Willias, Elijah McCall and many more.

In 2013, he fought against Joe Hanks for vacant WBO Inter-Continental heavyweight title. He won the title dropping Hanks twice in the round 4 forcing the stoppage. He then retained his WBO Inter-Continental title and won vacant NABF heavyweight title in a fight against Tor Hamer.

Ruiz was unstoppable winning fight after fight against the likes of Ray Austin, Manuel Quezada until his first defeat came at the hands of Joseph Parker. Joseph won the bout via majority decision. He came back strong after defeating Frank Warren in the first round. So far, Ruiz has been involved in a total of 33 fights where he has recorded 32 wins and lost one match. He has won 21 matches by KO.

Ruiz is now set to fight against Anthony Joshua for the unified WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight titles on June 1, 2019. He was given a match to fight against Joshua after Miller was denied a license by the New York Athletic Commission after he failed three different tests of PEDs.

It is expected that he will be earning around $7million (£5.36m) as Joshua’s opponent. His biggest paycheck was $1 million in a fight against Parker.
