Jacquavius Dennard Smith, who is better known by his stage name as 9lokkNine, is an American rapper. He is best known for his hit songs such as “10 Percent” and a collaboration on a song called “223s” with the controversial rapper named YNW Melly which was an even bigger hit. He mentioned in an interview how he initially started rapping when he was only 9 years of age and would use the beats that he found on Youtube as a medium for rapping. Moreover, even in school, when the classes were running, Smith was more interested in writing different verses so that he could rap once he got home.

Such habits enabled him to get good at rapping from a young age. He then started to record his raps on his iPod and would be a part of the Garage Band as well. Yet, his mind was still not completely made up on taking a career as a rapper. Smith was heavily encouraged by his circle which gave him the confidence that his music could get big.

Moreover, one dramatic moment would provide him the intrinsic motivation to go all-in on a career in music. After some criminal offense, Smith was arrested and had to spend some time in jail which gave him time to reflect upon his ambitions and what he was doing in his life. From the day he got out of prison, he went to the studio every day and started working on different songs.

One of his early releases was called “Ugly” that he released in 2017. He also published another song that started getting popularity in his local region called “JailHizeeBluez” that he had written while in prison. Initially, he made a name for himself in his hometown of Orlando but now he was starting to get noticed further into the world of hip-hop.

Then, on January 2 of 2018, Smith would release his debut mixtape called Kold Face Kold Case. He followed this up with another one called Bloodshells Revenge after two months. He started to release music in high quantity now and one of the singles in it was called I Don’t Need No Help” that was a hit. Soon after, he released a massive 17 track mixtape, Loyalty Kill Love. Moreover, at the end of the year, he released another 11-track mixtape, Lil Glokk That Stole Khristmas.

Though only some songs have made it big, his dedication behind the scenes in the number of songs that he has made shows how much it truly takes to make it. His collaboration with YNW Melly for “223’s” has been by far his most successful project with the song being a major hit on TikTok with more than 2.5 million videos being made with this song. Moreover, it became a meme on the platform that further popularized the song.
