2. Early Life

Austin was born on December 12, 1992, in Chicago, Illinois. He had an interest in music from his childhood years. He started a YouTube channel in 2007 and published everything from original music to acapella version of popular songs from popular artists.

He initially started his career on the Internet through a video-sharing app called Vine. He had more than 250,000 followers before the app shut down.

3. His YouTube Career was a successful one.

Although he started his YouTube channel in 2007, he began posting songs and music regularly from 2013. During his time as YouTuber, he covered songs from artists and groups like Panic! at the Disco, My Chemical Romance, 21 Pilots, Fall Out Boys, Justin Bieber, and many other artists.

His Acapella cover for “Welcome to the Black Parade” by My Chemical Romance was viewed over 5 million times. His other popular covers were Pierce the Veil, Sugar We’re Goin’ Down, and I Write Sins Not Tragedies.

As he became more popular on social media sites, he released his debut EP titled “We’ll Fall Together” in 2014. It debuted at No. 34 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart and No. 12 on the iTunes pop chart. Following the success of his EP, he released his first studio album titled “Pitch Imperfect”. He began to tour internationally with fellow Internet stars like Johnny Orlando and Bars & Melody.

4. Child Pornography Charges

In 2015, Austin Jones had contacted multiple underage female fans online, persuading them to twerk on video for him, giving her directions on how to perform the act while being recorded. After these incidents were made public by PupFresh, a petition was started to repeal his participation in the Warped Tour. Unfortunately, his tour was not canceled because the petition didn’t receive enough number of signatures.

He uploaded a video titled “Setting the Record Straight” on YouTube where he admitted to the allegations, apologized for his actions and pointed that there was no nudity involved with the fans.

On June 12, 2017, Austin was arrested at Chicago International Airport by Homeland Security on two counts of producing child pornography. It came after he had again contacted an underage female fan and tried to make sexually explicit videos of herself based on his directions.

5. Austin Jones is now facing 10 years of prison time for child porn

Austin is now facing 10 years of prison time due to his past behavior. According to Hollywood Reporter, Austin admitted to reaching out to 30 other girls online before his arrest. He pleaded guilty to a single count of “receipt of child pornography” on February 1, 2019, with sentencing scheduled for May 3, 2019.
